Bob Saunders

Robert (Bob) Saunders, Serving Since 2017
 
A native of Superior Wisconsin, Chaplain Bob Saunders has served with the St Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplains since 2017. A Hermantown resident for the past five years, he has worked at the two Medical Centers in Duluth for nearly 18 years as an On Call Chaplain working primarily nights and weekends.
 
Bob is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin –grew up in his families restaurant business, and later worked as an electronics salesman at Sears in Duluth. In 2000, he left sales to enroll in Clinical Pastoral Education, a national program available from St Marys Medical Center which trains clinical chaplains for the clinical workplace. He has been recognizd for supporting both families and staff in crises situations.
 
Chaplain Bob met his wife, Karen Harmon while working at St Mary's Hospital and they were married December 26th, 2001. Karen's children live out of state and have specialized careers in Geo-Engineering, but Bob and Karen share their home with their  old Husky/Pitt mix named Molly and their really old cat, Persia.
 
Bobs' hobbies include photography, refinishing and refurbishing old furniture as well as spending as much time as possible driving his collection of Chevrolet Corvairs from the 1960's. An avid Green Bay Packer fan, he proudly recognizes that Ole Haugsrud, founder of the Minnesota Vikings and NFL Coach Bud Grant are from his hometown of Superior.
 
His position as a St Loius County Law Enforcement Chaplain is sponsored as an extension of the ministry of his home church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church here in Duluth.
